Nutritional Therapy

I have always been fascinated in the link between health and the food we eat, but I became really interested in how food affects the way our body works when I started marathon running in 1988.

Ten marathons and one child later I decided it was time to study nutrition seriously and in 2006 I went to The Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London to gain a Fd/Sc degree and Diploma in Nutritional Therapy in 2009 (DipION).

I am a full member of the British Association for Applied and Nutritional Therapy (BANT) and work to a rigorous Code of Professional Practice. I am also a member of the CNHC, the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council; the Government supported regulator for Complementary and Alternative (CAM) disciplines.

All my advice comes from evidence based research and I constantly strive to keep up to date with the latest studies and breakthroughs in nutritional science. CPD is compulsory and I regularly attend clinical education programmes to improve my knowledge and the advice I provide.

I have been practising for 3 years and have developed a particular interest in Children's health, mental health and stress related issues; although I am of course interested in any condition Nutritional Therapy can improve or alleviate altogether. I also cook at a local Primary school where I practise my powers of persuasion and motivational skills encouraging the children to eat more healthily, a daily challenge I can tell you!

I love to cook and experiment with healthy ingredients so I can offer scrumptious and nutritious recipes to my clients. Healthy food really need not be boring. I also give advice on menu planning, shopping and food preparation if required.

My other passion is my veg patch which I started last year and am really looking forward to getting going again this Spring. Is there anything more satisfying than pulling up your own, organic vegetables? Any gardening advice would be much appreciated!
