Michael Cordell Lic. Ac. MBAcC
I decided to become an acupuncturist because I wanted to practise a natural form of medicine which doesn't forget about the person when treating an illness. Traditional acupuncture offers a beautiful system which has been used for a long time. All the same, over all the centuries it has been developed, changed and adapted allowing for changes in people and in our environment. After 19 years of practice I appreciate more than ever the help this form of therapy can provide; all by stimulating the body's self healing ability. My particular interests over the years have been Japanese acupuncture techniques which tend to be gentle and innovative; and the treatment of children. They cannot be considered to be small adults and when they don't recover fully after an accident or an illness treatment during childhood can potentially prevent problems occurring later on in life. Since autumn of 2008 I have been adding Koryo Hand Therapy to my Acupuncture repertoire. It has wide ranging applications and makes available additional gentle techniques for chronic conditions and people who prefer needle-less treatment. Visit www.koryohandtherapy.com for more information. Acunova ("the new acupuncture") is a newly discovered acupuncture method developed in the late 1990s by Danish Professor Boel. I trained in his method in 2010. To read more visit www.acunova.dk (and choose the flag icon for English language). I have been practising acupuncture in Ryedale at Kirkbymoorside Natural Health Centre since summer 2000.
