RUTH SMITH MAR
Reflexology, Reiki Second Degree Practitioner Like many people who end up practising complementary therapy I am a client turned therapist, I have been a regular recipient of Reflexology for a number of years, benefited from and marvelled at its ability to help me. It was after I sold the café business I was involved in that I ended up here at the Natural Health Centre as part of the management team. Being involved with complementary therapies on a daily basis, the desire to be a practitioner became very clear. I chose to study the Association of Reflexologists practitioner's Diploma for twelve months with the Northern School of Reflexology in York. I have since completed additional training in meridian work and metamorphic technique. The course is accredited by the Association of Reflexologists with whom I am also registered and insured. I have since completed post graduate certification in Maternity Reflexology, training with Susanne Enzer, Midwife and pioneer in the field of maternity reflexology. I am also qualified as a metamorphic practitioner and reiki therapist both of which I use for my own benefit as well as with clients. I have a great interest in the benefits and value of relaxation, and use specific techniques during my therapy sessions. I regularly run relaxation classes at the centre which I started originally to help my clients develop the skills for themselves. Whilst not wishing to put anyone off with boundless enthusiasm, I am compelled to tell you how much I delight in the work that I now do. I have a zest for this job that I have only ever found in small amounts elsewhere and am only too aware how fortunate I am, to be doing something I enjoy to his extent. I only practise here in Kirkbymoorside because I feel that it offers a unique environment for my clients and in turn for me. The centre is able to offer a team approach not commonplace within alternative therapy, allowing clients to achieve the best results possible, with help and support from us all, if required. It's not all work though, my fingers are not always green but I am an enthusiastic gardener, I love to cook - indeed any activity involving food and wine gets my vote. I have recently revisited dinghy sailing and enjoy reading and writing poetry. |
